ARCHIVED FEB 26, 2008...

It is time to break a bottle of good champagne on the bow of this "sailing ship" and get started.

Actually,.. we just discovered that our daily hits are averaging 1092 visitors!!  Wow, that came as a shock - especially since we weren't really supposed to be public yet.  :-)

There was a television commercial back in the internet bubble days that showed a team of people who started advertising their widgets on the web.  They are watching as their ads go public and then they see the orders coming in.  The numbers rise dramatically before our eyes and the team starts celebrating.  But as they watch, the numbers shoot up even more and then they sober up and realize that they have a new problem - they need to make more widgets than they ever imagined.

Fortunately we are not manufacturing widgets.  We are more of a views forum.    We are more like talk radio - which has also been wildly successful by the way.

But our audience uses a computer and can write.  You might expect that the communications that we receive are on a "higher level" than those who call in to the talk shows.  Not necessarily, of course, as we will probably get many of the same people.

People who are concerned and want our society to be the best that it can be are the ones that call in to talk shows and are the same people who will write to us.

We expect that like talk radio, our audience will be mainly "listeners".   We just did a quick survey and all of us here listen to talk radio in our vehicles but none of us have ever called in.  :-)

While we want to provide an entertaining "cruise ship" for your experience, we would prefer that you will take time to send an email with your thoughts, and lets CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.  Our society needs us.  We are on the verge of losing all that made this nation great.  You are needed to stop this  collapse.

If you have some news you want to share or if you want to share your opinion about some news, then you need to let us know.  It is only by sharing our thoughts and feelings that we can communicate to others.  By reading what others have to say, it is easier (we think) to understand their viewpoint.

This is really more of a views paper than a news paper.  But the reality is that so-called news papers have become so guilty of yellow journalism that they cannot accurately be called anything other than views papers.

The New York Times, for instance, today carried a story on their front page which demonstrated extreme yellow journalism.  They attacked Senator McCain over a 20-yr story that had no credibility to begin with.  We aren't big fans of Senator McCain but he definitely shows a higher level of integrity than the NY Times.

The point is that even those papers that print too much paper for any bird cage create their own news based on their views.  Our thoughts are that they wanted to take the attention off the bad news for Hillary.

But the way they climb up on a high horse of unbiased news, you would get the feeling (if your were really naive)  that they were an honest source of news.
...........................................................

We just did another quick survey to see how many sections of the newspaper people here read...  "Newspaper??  You mean the paper with ink on it that you have to throw away every day or recycle?  The thing with day old news?"

Sometimes it is hard to get a straight answer  :-).  The truth turns out to be that most people here only occasionally glance at a paper and when we do, we generally read only one small section.

The point that we wanted to make is that you won't be interested in all the sections of this "paper" either.  But hopefully, there is something for everyone.    (We even take care of the dog - check out Shindig. :-)

We provide both a listening post but also a sounding board.  We are here for you.

We didn't start out planning on such a large "ship", but as more and more requests came in, it just grew to this size without much effort.  However, as "she sails" we will make the necessary adjustments.
